ABOUT US

First United Methodist Church has been a part of the Pinellas Park area since 1961. We have seen many changes and the church has always been there to celebrate, pray, serve and support the community.

No matter where you are on life's journey--you are welcome in this place, not just by the pastor
or the congregation.
You are welcome by the God who revealed Himself
in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Remembering Ruth Bader Ginsburg
1933 - 2020

Ruth Bader Ginsburg began serving on the United States Supreme Court on August 10, 1993.

After being rejected for a Supreme Court clerkship because she was a woman, she began her legal career as a law professor at Rutgers University, and pioneering advocate for women's legal rights. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, also know as "Notorious RBG", was head of the Women's Rights Project of the ACLU--arguing six landmark cases before the Supreme Court--wining five in the fight to end gender discrimination.

Women on the Court: "People ask me sometimes...'When will there be enough women on the court?' 'And my answer is, 'When there are nine. 'People are shocked, but there'd been nine men, and nobody's ever raised a question about that."

To Law Students: "...if you are going to be a lawyer and just practice your profession, you have a skill--very much like a plumber. But if you want to be a true professional, you will do something outside yourself...something that makes life a little better for people less fortunate than you."

Domingo Garcia, national president of the League of United Latin American Citizens: "She was well aware of her place in history as one of the voices for the excluded, the oppressed and those trying to find real justice in the courts."

"Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg lived an extraordinary American
life and leaves it with glowing admiration from even those who disagreed with her. That's all any of us can hope for."
